Maintenance Manager
Job Purpose:
Lead, manage, and continuously improve the maintenance organization to ensure the safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of MonoSol plant assets while supporting overall business objectives.
Provide strategic leadership and technical direction for maintenance planning, scheduling, and execution, ensuring alignment with production goals, asset reliability targets, and long-term operational needs.
Drive reliability excellence by systematically reducing reactive maintenance, optimizing preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, and leveraging X5 CMMS data and EWO-based Root Cause Analysis to enable data-driven decisions.
Lead and ensure strong cross-functional collaboration with Safety, Quality, Production, and Engineering to enhance asset performance, minimize downtime, and improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
Responsibilities and Key Activities:
Safety:
Lead and champion maintenance engagement in plant safety programs, promoting a strong safety culture through active participation in JSAs, Gemba Walks, 5S initiatives, and other safety activities.
Lead and participate in safety audits, incident investigations, and risk assessments to ensure safe working conditions for MonoSol employees, contractors, and plant visitors.
Drive the development, review, and continuous improvement of maintenance-related Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure safe, standardized, and efficient work practices.
Own and drive Safety Continuous Improvement initiatives within the maintenance organization, ensuring identified risks are addressed and lessons learned are sustained.
Provide leadership and accountability for the Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) program, ensuring procedures are established, training is effective, compliance is verified, and deficiencies are promptly corrected.
Quality:
Ensure the maintenance organization effectively supports Quality Assurance programs by partnering with Quality Engineers, Process Engineers, and the site Fast Response Team to address and prevent internal and external quality issues.
Lead cross-functional collaboration with Operations, Quality, and Engineering to identify, analyze, and resolve equipment-related quality concerns through structured root cause analysis (EWOs).
Drive the development, standardization, and governance of maintenance procedures to ensure consistent execution, workmanship quality, and compliance with quality standards.
Ensure robust documentation, change management, and follow-up for maintenance-driven improvements to sustain quality gains and prevent recurrence.
Productivity:
Maintain and operate in a strong dotted-line partnership with Operations leadership to align maintenance and production priorities, ensuring shared accountability for equipment reliability, uptime, and overall plant performance.
Own the maintenance planning and scheduling strategy, ensuring effective execution to maximize equipment uptime, throughput, and OEE.
Ensure X5 CMMS is effectively utilized as the system of record for work execution, asset history, preventive maintenance, and storeroom management, and driving data-based decision making.
Define, monitor, and continuously improve key maintenance performance indicators, including planned vs. reactive work, PM compliance, MTBF, MTTR, and Cost Deployment.
Lead the planning and execution of planned outages, shutdowns, and capital maintenance projects to support reliable operations and long-term asset health.
Develop, manage, and control the maintenance budget, ensuring cost effectiveness and alignment with business objectives.
Recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing maintenance organization, including planners, supervisors, and technicians, through clear expectations, coaching, and performance management.
Establish and communicate clear roles, responsibilities, performance standards, and accountability across the maintenance organization.
Ensure appropriate selection, utilization, and performance management of contractors and external service providers to support maintenance objectives safely and efficiently.
Continuous Improvement:
Direct and oversee the Reliability Engineer in the development and execution of reliability-centered maintenance, preventive maintenance optimization, and failure elimination strategies.
Champion the use of Root Cause Analysis (EWOs) to identify and eliminate recurring equipment issues, driving reductions in downtime, improvements in asset reliability, and lower total maintenance cost.
Provide leadership, prioritization, and technical input to the Idea Management System to drive meaningful and value-adding continuous improvement initiatives.
Oversee and utilize project management tools (e.g., ASANA) to manage and execute medium- to high-complexity continuous improvement projects, ensuring on-time delivery and measurable results.
Lead and promote Lean Manufacturing initiatives such as Kaizen, 5S, SMED, and waste/loss elimination to improve maintenance effectiveness, productivity, and overall plant performance.

CMMS systems utilization and data management to drive informed decision-making
Reliability engineering principles, including asset lifecycle management
Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and problem-solving methodologies
Troubleshooting of complex mechanical, electrical, and control systems
Preventive and predictive maintenance program development and optimization
Broad working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems in a process manufacturing environment
Contractor, vendor, and resource management to ensure safe, cost-effective execution
Project management for maintenance, reliability, and continuous improvement initiatives
Soft Skills:

Education and Experience:
Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering, Maintenance Management, or a related technical field; equivalent education may be considered.
Experience: 3–5 years of progressive experience in industrial maintenance within a process manufacturing environment, including demonstrated leadership and development of maintenance teams.
