Graduate Assistant Non-Teaching | Academic Affairs (Policy/HB2504)

The Graduate Assistant will provide academic and administrative support to assist with maintaining accurate academic information, supporting the Office of the Provost.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor/review documents on HB 2504 webpage
• Review academic webpages for catalog information accuracy
• Assist with textbook order follow-up
• Assist with policy review, and OER projects.
• Assist with answering and directing telephone calls, filing, and performing other clerical support tasks as delegated
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• Must be enrolled as a full-time graduate student at Prairie View A&M University. (Minimum of 9 credit hours during the regular fall and spring semesters and 6 semester credit hours for the summer semester).
• Must be in good academic standing.

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Degree-seeking student in a graduate program at PVAMU (e.g., Sociology; Management; Education Leadership; Counseling; Psychology, Human Sciences, Communications; etc.)
• Must be enrolled in 9 graduate credits each semester of assistantship
• Must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Demonstrated evidence of excellent written and oral communication skills
• Strong interpersonal; organizational, and analytical skills
• Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and to conduct oneself in a highly professional and ethical manner
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and integrity in all tasks
• Familiarity with academic integrity principles, compliance standards, and higher education governance structures, a plus;
• Have a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat Professional
• Able to work 25 hours per week
