SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Kids Ministry Assistant helps create prepared, welcoming, and Christ-centered environments where children can know and love Jesus. This role assists with weekly lesson preparation, coordinates Kids Worship and quarterly Kids Choir, participates in ministry events and activities, and supports the Kids Ministry Manager with daily ministry operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist with preparing weekly lesson plans, crafts, activities, and teaching materials using the approved curriculum and direction of ministry leadership. Copy, assemble, organize, and distribute lesson materials so classrooms and volunteers are prepared each week. Coordinate age-appropriate Kids Worship, including age appropriate song selection, music and media preparation, volunteer communication, and service readiness in alignment with ministry leadership’s vision. Coordinate quarterly Kids Choir, including planning, rehearsals, parent communication, volunteer support, and performance logistics. Participate in all Kids Ministry events and activities, including Friday evening programming, Sunday mornings, Tuesday Together, VBS, family events, and seasonal programming. Assist the Kids Ministry Manager with ministry operations, scheduling support, volunteer communication, administrative tasks, and assigned projects. Help prepare, stock, organize, and reset classrooms and ministry spaces; assist with event setup and cleanup. Communicate preparation progress, supply needs, and ministry concerns promptly; follow all child protection and safety policies.

Attends required staff meetings and church events (including Easter and Christmas) as requested. Performs other duties as assigned to support the effectiveness of the ministry and staff team.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Constant sitting, standing, moving and viewing of screens. Occasional lifting of 20 pounds or more.

SCHEDULE EXPECTATIONS

29 hours per week, including Friday evenings, Sunday mornings, Tuesday evenings, and scheduled office hours for lesson preparation, worship and choir planning, and ministry operations. Ministry events and activities are included in the weekly schedule in coordination with the Kids Ministry Manager.
