Interventional Radiologic Technologist - Days

Prepared for and scrubs into interventional procedures in collaboration with interventional radiologists and nursing. Holds advanced certification in vascular interventional radiography and provides care in accordance with prescribed radiation safety procedures and protocols. Location Ochsner Medical Center – Baton Rouge Education Required – Completion of an approved radiologic technology program. Work Experience Required – None. Preferred – Interventional radiology experience. Certifications Required – Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or ARRT registry eligible, registered within 90 days of employment, and temporary state license required. Current unrestricted license in the state of practice. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association. Preferred – Advanced certification in Vascular Interventional Radiology. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) Proficiency in using computers, software, and web‑based applications. Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally. Strong interpersonal skills. Job Duties Verify physician order and procedure to assure accuracy. Utilize radiology information systems to facilitate care. Explain procedure to patient to ensure understanding. Independently operate equipment to complete imaging procedure according to protocol. Review patient images prior to transmission to ensure images meet diagnostic quality standards. Complete timely quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards and perform notification/remediation as warranted. Assist in the facilitation of departmental operations (inventory, staff schedules, equipment, maintenance, etc.). Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, including respecting privacy, using appropriate introduction and explanation of services or procedures, requesting permission, and communicating in a suitable style. Perform other related duties as required. Physical and Environmental Demands Medium work – frequent lifting of 10 to 25 pounds and/or occasional lifting of 20 to 50 pounds, with exposure to blood, body fluid, tissue, communicable diseases, hazardous medications or waste. The role requires standing and walking for significant periods.
