Environmental Health & Safety Specialist

Purpose The EH&S Specialist - AZ is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of employees in the Arizona location by supporting programs in regulatory compliance, risk management, wellness, training, and incident response.
Essential Functions* • Conduct safety inspections and annual compliance audits at the Arizona facility that align with both Federal OSHA and state plans
• Coordinate and monitor Worker's Compensation claims, transitional work programs, injury investigations, and workplace accommodations
• Maintain relationships with occupational health providers, third-party administrators, and other regulatory agencies
• Conduct root cause analyses and implement corrective action for workplace incidents
• Enforce and train on the organization's Drug Free Workplace Program
• Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees and leadership, covering both regulatory requirements and site-specific topics
• Coordinate and maintain compliance with occupational health requirements, including drug screens, fit for duty, post-incident care, and vaccinations, in collaboration with healthcare vendors
• Inventory and inspect fire extinguishers, first aid stations, AEDs, and other EH&S items
• Respond to EH&S incidents at the Arizona facility
• Manage safety documentation and reporting, including OSHA recordkeeping, SDS database maintenance, incident rate calculations, work area inspections, and controlled documents or policy updates
• Serve as the primary environmental compliance contact for the Arizona location
• Maintains a thorough understanding of the environmental standards, processes, and regulations to ensure Environmental Management System requirements are adequately addressed. Other Duties and Responsibilities (Non-Essential Functions) • Identify safety and health process problems; assist in continuous improvement through metrics, audits, and trend analysis
• Support various departments and teams as needed, providing health and safety guidance and resources to help meet operational and compliance goals
• Attend workers compensation seminars and other relevant safety and health trainings as needed to stay current with changing regulations and best practices; provide guidance to the organization on available programs and recommend updates or improvements
• Maintain high levels of confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when managing sensitive health and personnel information
Qualifications • High school diploma, secondary education, or certifications required
• Previous business office experience preferred
• Experience in conducting health and safety related inspections
• OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred
• Experience in case management of injured workers
• Experience with workers compensation claims and programs
• Excellent computer skills using office applications
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Excellent organization and planning skills
• Valid driver's license

Working conditions • Standard office, climate-controlled environment
• May be exposed to temperatures under 32 degrees and above 110 degrees
• May be exposed to inclement weather
• May be exposed to hazardous chemicals, such as gas, oil, and paint
• Some travel may be required
Physical requirements • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for an extended period of time
