The 2nd Shift Finishing Operator is focused on setup and operation of commercial label inspector machines to include visual quality control. They will operate equipment to slit continuous lengths of printed material into strips of specified width. This position reports to the Finishing Supervisor. Pay Rate: $18.00-$20.00/hour plus $1.00/hour shift differential Schedule: 2nd shift, Monday-Thursday, 2:30PM-1:00AM, with occasional overtime Responsibilities: Receives job assignments from Finishing Supervisor or Team Lead; reads job specifications and selects correct cores and rewind method for job Reviews job jacket to ensure all finishing, packaging, and shipping specifications are addressed Inspect products to ensure quality integrity and package products Observes flow of material through machine to detect irregular cutting and winding Ensure quality of work to include color, size, die cut, perforations, print, and quantity of packaged items being shipped Assist in cutting, collating, wrapping, and packaging of converting jobs Perform preventative maintenance on machines Remove or replace blades on inspection machines Completes paperwork for each job and packages finished goods for shipment to customer Keeps work areas clear and organized; maintains housekeeping standards Key Characteristics we are looking for: Basic mathematical skills, including the ability to read a ruler Basic computer skills Dependability and Reliability: Able to follow instructions, respond to management direction, keep commitments, is punctual and on time, and is able to take responsibility and have accountability for own actions Problem Solving: Identifies and escalates problems in a timely manner; Gathers and communicates information skillfully; Works well in group problem solving situations; Uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics. Qualifications: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience Manufacturing experience is preferred Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals Ability to read and interpret ruler, scales and other measurement devices. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus Work Environment: Primarily works in a manufacturing setting, which contains equipment and machinery that can be noisy and hazardous Is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts Is occasionally exposed to chemicals, some of which could be hazardous Noise level is usually moderate Physical Demands: Regularly required to stand, talk, and hear Occasionally required to walk, and use hands to handle or feel Occasionally required to lift or move up to 40 pounds
