Manager Trainee

Job Title: Manager Trainee Department: Supply Chain Location: United States of America, Wisconsin, Mt Pleasant Job Type: Full time Job Summary Under general supervision, this position is responsible for learning the management of a small driver count and/or non‑traditional shifts, including nights and weekends, ensuring safe and timely movement of freight, load assignment, and providing best‑in‑class customer service. The trainee will be trained to ensure compliance with DOT regulations and to manage all drivers’ compliance and company regulations while working with internal and external contacts to accurately plan, route, monitor, and deliver freight and loads. Key Responsibilities Build and maintain positive professional relationships with drivers and outside carriers. Fill in for absent personnel and work on special projects improving fleet operations and profitability. Utilize personnel management, training, and orientation for drivers and employees, and assist with internal and third‑party customer systems. Maximize fleet operational efficiency and profitability, providing continuous improvement recommendations and measuring key performance indicators. Create, maintain, and present customer‑specific reporting and financial analysis during face‑to‑face interactions at customer locations. Manage inventory, assets, customer pools, and driver assignments to balance equipment availability. Perform administrative duties including payroll, net‑revenue budget management, driver counseling, accident reviews, filing, resolving pay issues, analyzing P&L statements, invoicing, and operational or financial reporting. Manage yard operations: equipment inspection, parts replacement, repairs, and coordination with maintenance to schedule preventive maintenance and address safety‑related mechanical issues. Resolve service, routing, mechanical, accessorial pay, and other issues with drivers, customers, and company personnel throughout the day and when on call. Maintain the company’s safety culture, delivering daily driver safety messages, monthly briefings, quarterly training, annual reviews, and enforcing DOT compliance and company safety policies. Assign loads, plan, route, and monitor freight movement to provide safe, on‑time service while meeting customer requirements and managing freight exceptions and driver ETA adjustments. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field OR High School Diploma/GED with 1 year of experience in management, transportation, logistics, business administration, account management, or related field, and/or equivalent military experience. Willingness to travel to account, customer, and company event locations. Ability to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends. Willingness to regionally relocate depending on account assignment. Not eligible for employment‑based sponsorship. Preferred Qualifications Experience managing a team. Compensation Factors affecting starting pay include skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications. The role may be eligible for an annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes, in accordance with the company’s bonus and incentive plans.
