Cafe Grill Cook

Simply Plated is seeking a skilled Cafe Grill Cook to prepare delicious meals according to our menu. You will be charged with cooking tasty dishes that will delight our customers and in a timely manner. An excellent cook must be able to follow instructions in cooking and delivering well-prepared meals. They must be deft in moving around the kitchen and in multi-tasking. Experience in using various ingredients and cooking techniques is important.

Position Hours: Monday- Friday 7:00am-3:00pm

Cafe Operating Hours: 8:00am- 2:00pm

Expected Hours: 20-40 hours per week

Roles & Responsibilities

• This individual will work side-by-side with the Executive Chef and other team members to execute the Cafe rotating menu efficiently and effectively
• Prepare all food items to company specifications, including cleaning and cutting the ingredients and may assist in cooking food items
• Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
• Properly labeling, dating, covering and refrigerating prepped food items for the line
• Performing opening, closing & side duties setting up, stocking, and breaking down all kitchen equipment and prep, line, expo stations
• Responsible for the set-up, operation, break down, and cleaning of all kitchen equipment
• Maintaining a clean and organized kitchen, line, expo, dish room and back dock
• Uphold our high restaurant kitchen sanitation and food service safety standards
• Store and rotate all products properly (follows FIFO, First In, First Out)
• Properly reading items printed on order tickets or automated Kitchen Display System
• Assembling orders - double checking product quality and specs
• Demonstrating impeccable product knowledge
• Appropriately follow open and closing cleaning procedures for the caf dining and grill area
• May be trained cross-trained on other positions within Cafe

Preferred Qualifications

• 1 years Kitchen experience required
• Experience in using cutting tools, cookware and bakeware
• Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc.)
• Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
• Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a team environment
• Excellent communication and customer service skills, as well as a strong work ethic
• High school diploma or equivalent; Diploma from a culinary school will be an advantage
• Ability to operate available equipment, such as cash registers, calculators, or scanners
• Take pride in brand by always being in uniform and looking crisp and professional

Our Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to push up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to be on your feet for an entire shift
• Reliable transportation and ability to commute
• Can read and interpret recipes, safety rules, operating instructions and procedure manuals
• Must be able to work around food and cleaning products.

Salary: $16 - $18 per hour
