RN - Acute Medical Service | A-Shifts

General Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) delivers direct patient care by applying the nursing process, demonstrating clinical expertise relevant to acute medical services, and upholding the ANA Code of Ethics.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Adhere to established safety protocols including infection prevention, safe patient handling, and critical lab notifications to ensure a secure care environment.
- Maintain and care for central lines and implement measures to prevent surgical site infections according to policy.
- Provide high-quality nursing care including medication administration, nursing interventions, and patient and family education.
- Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments to monitor status, enhance quality, and support clinical decision-making.
- Document all patient care activities and quality monitoring data to comply with standards and improve outcomes.
- Communicate effectively with physicians and healthcare team members to optimize patient care.
- Delegate tasks appropriately while fostering teamwork and accountability.
- Engage with patients and families promptly to improve their experience and support health outcomes.
- Apply critical thinking in nursing practice and pursue continuing education to enhance skills.
Education
Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.
Experience
At least one year of nursing experience is preferred.
Certification/License
- Current RN license valid in the state or through Compact Licensure.
- Graduate nurses must obtain licensure within 90 days of graduation.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Mental/Physical Requirements
This role requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 lbs., standing, walking, and various movements such as pushing, pulling, and twisting.
Working Conditions
Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids is expected. Occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur.
