Job Title: Flex Etcher – 1st, 2nd, or 3rd Shift
Job Description
The Flex Etcher plays a key role in producing high-precision panel substrates by performing manual wet chemical tank and conveyor etching in a fast-paced, highly technical manufacturing environment. You will execute etching, stripping, and seeding processes according to strict customer specifications, verify product quality with precision measurement tools, and accurately document all process parameters. You will also be cross-trained on plating processes and perform routine preventive maintenance to keep production lines running safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Execute wet chemical tank and conveyor etching processes in accordance with standard work instructions, ensuring proper concentration, temperature, and dwell time to meet customer specifications.
- Read, interpret, and apply special instructions or traveler notes, including requirements for unique panel materials and custom etch depths.
- Measure critical panel dimensions and surface conditions using specialized gauges and tools such as micrometers and thickness gauges to verify conformance.
- Accurately document measurements, process parameters, and trends on product control worksheets and traveler review sheets.
- Load, handle, and process panels through wet chemical tanks and conveyors using frames, leaders, and backboards, ensuring parts are properly aligned to prevent defects.
- Participate in cross-training for plating processes on both manual tanks and automated lines and provide support to plating operations as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace and equipment in full compliance with safety regulations, including properly rinsing stations, disposing of chemical waste, and keeping aisles clear.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on etch equipment following the operator process control checklist, including checking conveyor belts, inspecting pumps, and cleaning tank filters.
- Complete daily production tasks as directed by the production schedule with minimal supervision, consistently meeting or exceeding throughput targets.
- Communicate process feedback, equipment issues, and material concerns promptly to department leadership to minimize downtime and maintain quality.
- Collaborate with peers and leadership to support production demands and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Apply a quality-driven mindset to ensure each panel meets all specifications before it moves to the next stage of production.
- Follow all environmental, health, and safety protocols while working with wet chemicals and production equipment.
Essential Skills
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Ability to read and write clearly to follow written instructions and complete accurate documentation.
- Legible handwriting for recording measurements, process parameters, and production data.
- Basic math skills to perform measurements, calculate tolerances, and verify process parameters.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand and work with production equipment and tools.
- Demonstrated ability to retain process knowledge and apply it consistently.
- Ability to multitask and manage several process steps or work orders at the same time.
- Effective time-management skills to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- High attention to detail and thoroughness to ensure panels meet strict specifications and quality standards.
- Quality-driven mindset with a focus on preventing defects and identifying issues early.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills to report measurements, log trends, and escalate issues clearly.

- Experience with machine operation, assembly, warehouse tasks, or hand tool use in a manufacturing environment.

Work Environment
This role operates in a precision manufacturing environment that produces components for the medical, aerospace, and electronics industries. You work around wet chemical tanks, conveyors, and plating equipment, using frames, leaders, backboards, and precision measurement tools such as micrometers and thickness gauges. The environment is fast-paced and highly process-driven, with a strong emphasis on safety, quality, and adherence to environmental, health, and safety protocols. Work areas are kept clean and organized, with clear aisles and properly maintained rinse stations and waste-disposal systems. You follow standard work instructions and production schedules while collaborating closely with a team that values continuous learning, internal promotion, and attention to detail.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.60 - $19.60/hr.
