Role Snapshot

• Title: Bleach Manufacturing Railcar Operations Specialist
• Shift: 2nd shift, Monday – Friday, 3:00 – 11:30 pm; occasional Saturdays as business requires
• Compensation: $22.34–$26.97/hour (experience-based) + $0.05/hour differential for all hours worked outside of 1st shift
• Focus: Safe operation of tank farm systems, chlorine railcar transfer, in-process QA, and light mechanical PM

What You’ll Do

• Run bleach manufacturing processes and tank farm equipment
• Execute safe loading/unloading of chlorine railcars per defined procedures
• Perform titration, filter checks, and water hardness testing
• Transport raw materials using a sit-down forklift
• Carry out minor mechanical tasks (gasket replacement, process piping PM)
• Maintain batch records and send shift turnover communications via email
• Apply site wastewater treatment and disposal practices
• Follow OSHA HAZMAT rules, environmental controls, and GMP
• Serve on the emergency response team as needed

What You Need to Succeed

• High school diploma or GED
• Bilingual preferred, not required
• 2+ years’ experience in hazardous liquid chemical processing
• 1+ year tank farm and railcar loading/unloading background
• 1+ year sit-down forklift operation
• Direct exposure to chlorine or similar highly hazardous chemicals
• Ability to follow detailed procedures and work instructions
• Effective communication, solid math, and proficiency in Word/Excel
• Strong attendance and reliability; able to work overtime as needed
• Proven commitment to safety in high-hazard environments

Physical & Work Conditions

• Fit-tested for a full-face respirator; facial hair cannot interfere with the seal (OSHA)
• Outdoor work in varied weather conditions
• Lift up to 45 lbs
• Work around odors and a range of chemicals
• Operate in non-climate-controlled spaces
• Climb ladders and stairs to reach tanks and vessels
• Wear required PPE and comply with Health, Safety, and GMP practices
