Data Entry Lead

$18 - $32 per hour

Data Entry Lead (Job Number: 2370908) Improve the lives of others while Caring. Connecting. Growing together. Location: 228 Billerica Rd, Chelmsford, MA. Hybrid schedule: 4 in-office days per week. Optum is a global organization that delivers care aided by technology to help millions of people live healthier lives. The role will directly improve health outcomes by coordinating provider training, managing medical billing operations, and supporting the department through data entry, communication, and process improvement. Primary Responsibilities Assist with scheduling provider coding education trainings to achieve a perfect completion rate for new hires and continuous learning for existing specialists. Review and decide on inquiries from Accounts Payable regarding payments to vendors. Evaluate and apply or waive charges based on patient financial assistance programs, following thorough review of billing accounts and health plan documents. Coordinate payment activities for the medical billing team, including posting to EPIC EMR accounts and conducting batch reconciliation. Advise the team on missing time‑sensitive tasks and coordinate follow‑up appointments with IT and business leads. Support the department leader in managing meeting schedules, coordinating multi‑stakeholder meetings, and preparing standard reports with narratives and presentation designs. Analyze claims, mail, lockbox correspondence, attorney requests, and other billing correspondence to ensure contract specifications are met. Communicate within Medical Billing and other operational departments to keep business items, agenda items, and notes up to date and processed timely. Identify issues that require communication with internal departments to facilitate scheduling and cross‑functional projects. Assist in decision making based on process requirements and guidelines. Write and maintain presentations and other documents on financial and business content, work instructions, SOPs, and reference materials. Monitor departmental and company tasks to determine immediate attention needed and ensure timely completion. Perform data entry, manage department email inboxes, and sort and distribute emails to appropriate team members. Provide operational triage assistance and basic education for misrouted customer inquiries. Act as a resource and liaison to support team members and internal/external customers with processes, training, education, and issue resolution based on contract guidelines. Required Qualifications High School Diploma / GED or equivalent work experience. Minimum 18 years of age. 1+ years of similar or related work experience in healthcare administration. Experience working in a medical office. Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) and intermediate Excel proficiency. Must be able to work onsite 4 days a week. Full‑time Monday‑Friday availability with flexibility during normal business hours (7:30 am‑4:00 pm). Occasional overtime may be required. Preferred Qualifications Basic understanding of medical finance and billing operations. Knowledge of medical billing and coding terminology and concepts. Experience with EPIC Healthcare EMR system. Telecommuting Requirements Residence within a 20‑mile radius commutable to 228 Billerica Rd, Chelmsford, MA (e.g., Lowell, Chelmsford, Andover, Billerica, Wilmington, Burlington). Ability to keep company‑sensitive documents secure. Dedicated work area with privacy and no interference from other living areas. Access to a UnitedHealth Group‑approved high‑speed internet connection. Soft Skills Sound judgment and decision making with limited information. Excellent teamwork, leadership, verbal, and written communication skills. Strong analytical thinking, multitasking, organizational and time‑management skills. Problem‑solving ability and capacity to propose solutions in a fast‑paced environment. Assertiveness under extreme deadlines and ability to work autonomously. Compensation and Benefits Hourly pay ranges from $18 to $32 based on full‑time employment.
