The Resident Director is a twelve-month live-in administrative contract position within the Department of Housing & Residence Life and reports directly to an Assistant Director of Housing & Residence Life. The Resident Director directly supervises and coordinates the development of a residential community comprised of 200-600 residents. Resident Directors will either supervise a Graduate Resident Director and indirectly oversee their assigned building of 100-600 residents or oversee a collateral assignment rather than supervise a Graduate Resident Director. Resident Directors will be assigned summer assignments for approximately two months each calendar year.

Key responsibilities include supervision, community development/educational/academic initiatives, leadership/professional development, administration/organization, and a summer assignment.

Position profile: Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following: responsible for the direction of residence hall operations for students. May administer off-campus housing programs.

Level summary: Performs professional-level work that involves basic, operational problem-solving. Independently resolves day-to-day issues and executes clearly defined tasks. Provides data analysis and informational insights to support decision-making.

Supervisory responsibilities: May supervise student employees.

Fiscal responsibilities: No budgetary responsibility. May be responsible for validating transactions.

Problem solving: Solves routine problems with defined processes and guidance.

Independence of action: Works under close supervision.

Communication and collaboration: Collaborates with peers and follows guidance from supervisor.

Physical requirements: This is a live-in position within a university residence hall. The Resident Director must reside in an assigned on-campus apartment and maintain regular visibility within the residential community. Work occurs in both the office and residential settings and involves frequent interaction with students. The role requires mobility throughout residence halls, extended computer use, and the ability to respond to emergencies. Occasional lifting of materials up to 25 pounds may be required.

Minimum qualifications: Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and less than 3 years of related professional experience, or equivalent education and experience.

Pay rate: Commensurate with education and years of experience.

Pay grade: CA&P|15|

Pay range: $43,888-$62,459
