Deputy Project Manager/Project Manager

Job Description Deputy Project Manager/Project Manager for AECOM's California Natural Resources team, based in our San Diego office supporting the Environment business line on large-scale utilities and infrastructure projects. Responsibilities Assist technical project managers and project controls staff. Learn and stay current on AECOM Project Management systems to support technical staff on Environmental Projects and Programs. Maintain the AECOM project financial system: uploading change orders, opening and closing projects, developing financial schedules and monthly Estimate at Complete workbooks. Set up and administer project cost control, monitor, collect and analyze actual costs, commitments, and accruals. Identify cost trends and analyze key performance indicators to support technical project managers in managing budgets. Develop progress and financial reports for clients. Evaluate project performance and identify areas of concern. Compile monthly invoices and follow up with client accounts payable. Assist in identifying change conditions and develop Change Order request documents and estimates. Manage subcontractor involvement: coordinate contracts, budgets, commitments, expenditures, invoices. Perform ad‑hoc analysis as required by the technical project manager or regional financial leadership. Develop and maintain project schedules. Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or related field. 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency focusing on financial management and administrative support. US Citizenship required. Preferred Qualifications 4+ years of relevant experience. Basic knowledge of project management processes. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel functions. Basic knowledge of finance and accounting. Strong analytical and interpersonal communication skills with a hospitality mindset. Additional Information All newly hired employees are required to attend an in‑person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location as a condition of employment. Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $86,000 to $110,000.
