Accessibility Associate

Job Overview Disability Support Services (DSS) is committed to providing equal educational opportunity and participation for all students at GW. Reporting to the Senior Accessibility Associate, the Accessibility Associate will coordinate accommodated academic exam administration for individual students with approved exam accommodations. The role includes facilitating administration and completion of exams and ensuring that disability-related accommodations have been met. Responsibilities Assist with all aspects of exam administration, including checking in students, maintaining exam integrity, printing exams, reformatting exams for accessibility as required, and monitoring time allotted for completion. Facilitate maintenance of testing center scheduling, including communication with faculty and academic partners such as the registrar. Serve as a resource for student proctors and staff on best practices for administering exams and ensuring exam integrity. Serve as primary staff presence at the front desk of DSS, addressing higher‑level walk‑in concerns, particularly related to test administration. Demonstrate effective problem‑solving techniques as issues arise before, during, and after exam administration. Collaborate with other DSS staff to educate university faculty, deans, administrators, families, and students about disability and learning support systems at GW. Maintain the front‑desk presence at GW's Foggy Bottom Campus while addressing walk‑in concerns and coordination of exam‑related services. Minimum Qualifications Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization. The degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA); knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 is preferred. Technical expertise: proficiency in Microsoft Excel and direct experience navigating higher‑education platforms such as Banner and the AIM database. Creative problem‑solving skills. Ability to take initiative, multitask, and work well under pressure. Ability to develop sensitive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and parents/guardians (where appropriate). Highest personal and professional integrity. Flexible and open‑minded, yet able to stand one’s ground when necessary. Outgoing and collaborative style that fosters cooperation and involvement. Excellent judgment and ability to manage highly sensitive, confidential data and information. Compensation $20.13 - $33.23 Location Foggy Bottom, Washington, DC (GW's Foggy Bottom Campus).
