Overview Intertek’s Building and Construction division is a suite of industry‑leading brands that provide risk management and quality assurance for architecture, engineering and construction projects. Professional Service Industries, Inc. (Intertek‑PSI) is a leading U.S. provider of construction assurance, testing and inspection services. The role is based in the Arlington Heights, Illinois office. Job Title Accountant Salary Annual salary range: $78,000 - $85,000. Responsibilities Process and reconcile account receivables and remittances. Address payment issues such as double payments or other discrepancies. Engage in collection management processes as necessary. Prepare journal entries. Complete general ledger operations. Conduct monthly, quarterly and year‑end closings and prepare monthly financial statements. Prepare analysis of accounts as requested. Monitor and resolve bank issues including fee anomalies and check differences. Assist with preparation for and coordination of the audit process. Assist with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures. Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and staying abreast of authoritative updates and pronouncements. Accomplish accounting and organization mission by completing related tasks as needed. Engage in other accounting and finance related special projects as directed by superiors. Research, pay, and journalize property tax invoices while coordinating with the Tax team for renditions filing. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required; minimum 3 years of experience. Demonstrated technical accounting skills. Timely and meets deadlines as necessary. Experience with various types of reporting and presentation of data. Extreme attention to detail. Working knowledge of US GAAP. Understanding of confidentiality, coordination, thoroughness, quality focus, and objectivity. General computer and ERP systems skills. Intermediate Excel skills required. Working knowledge of Lawson required. Adherence to safety practices and policies to ensure personal and others’ safety. Ability to work in fast‑paced, multi‑tasking environments with shifting priorities and demanding deadlines. Strong prioritization, organization, and efficient time management skills. Effective verbal, written, and presentation communication skills. Fundamental technical and administrative skills required to perform the job duties. Customer focused and quality driven approach. Ability to travel as business needs dictate. Preferred Qualifications Related degrees in Business or Finance fields are acceptable if accompanied with relevant work experience.
