Job Details Title: Service Technician Location: Mequon, WI Job ID: 86619 Category: Renewable Energy Position Type: Direct Duration: Direct Shift: 1 Responsibilities The Service Technician must be able to perform job duties of an installer in a communications and industrial environment. A general understanding of the DC Power industry regarding Telecom, UPS, and Utility is required. The position requires frequent travel on a regular basis, including overnight trips, mostly during the week. Key duties include installation of batteries and rectifier battery plants (all voltages); ironwork; cable rack installation with knowledge of Zone 4 environment requirements; DC power plant upgrades and replacements; Primary and Secondary distribution equipment including PBDs, BDFBs, BDCBBs, inverters, and converters; running of power cable, lug crimping, and lacing; taking voltage and gravity readings; and all other duties associated with installation and maintenance of DC power. AC power work from 120V 1-phase to 480V 3-phase is also required. Other duties may be assigned. Maintain open and positive communication (both verbal and written) with employees, departments, and customers. Work well within a team environment and independently as a self‑starter. Willingness to travel between offices, service locations, and customer sites is essential. Minimum Physical and Sensory Requirements Strength to lift a 50 lb. object without assistance, and items weighing up to 150 lb. with assistance; strength to slide up to 200 lbs. Strength and dexterity to bend, squat, crawl, kneel, crouch, or twist to reach or work with assigned systems. Strength, mobility and dexterity to use small hand and power tools as necessary and to climb or crawl to install equipment in areas of close tolerance. Ability to climb and work on ladders, gantries, and catwalks. This is a safety‑sensitive position. Minimum Skill Requirements An understanding of how a lead acid battery works. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand spoken English. Ability to read and interpret drawings and technical manuals. Good writing skills, general math skills, strong mechanical skills, and strong communication skills. Must maintain an acceptable driving record, pass annual drug tests (random testing required for certain customers), and maintain an acceptable background check in accordance with company and customer requirements and local laws/regulations. Compensation $23.50 - $31.00/hr based on experience. Other Requirements DOT Medical Qualification Card required. Shift Times 1st shift: 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM (varies depending on travel and customer requirements). Night work required, overtime required, weekends occasionally required.
