About the Facility: Lexington VA Medical Center The Lexington VA Medical Center (VAMC), a part of the VA Healthcare System, provides comprehensive healthcare services to veterans in central Kentucky. This includes a wide range of care such as primary care, mental health services, specialty care (cardiology, oncology, and advanced surgical treatments), and extended care options like rehabilitation, long-term care, and geriatric care. Responsibilities

• The Diagnostic & Interventional Radiologist interprets a wide range of imaging studies, including X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, ultrasounds, and angiograms, to identify abnormalities and diagnose diseases.
• Communicate diagnostic findings clearly to referring physicians and patients through detailed reports.
• Discuss potential treatment options and contribute to developing treatment plans based on imaging results.
• The Diagnostic & Interventional Radiologist performs minimally invasive, image-guided interventional procedures such as angioplasty, stent placement, embolization, biopsies, drainage of abscesses, and foreign body removal, typically using fluoroscopy guidance.
• Manage patient care during these procedures, including the monitoring of vital signs and ensuring overall patient safety.
• Work closely with other specialists to devise comprehensive treatment plans and provide consultation regarding interventional radiology procedures.
• The Diagnostic & Interventional Radiologist provides discharge education to patients and ensure follow-up instructions are aligned with the next care setting, especially for emergency department patients.

Requirements

• Must have a Medical Degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
• Must be Board Certified in Radiology by the American Board of Radiology (ABR).
• Must have a minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in diagnostic and interventional radiology.
• Must have current DEA, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications.
• Must have a current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.
