About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Step Down Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night 3x12-Hour or Day 3x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Pending License accepted: No Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Experience with insulin, nicardipine, dexmedetomidine, and nitroglycerin drips. Description: This position involves working in a Progressive Care Unit/Step Down. Night shifts are 6 weeks of straight days followed by 7 weeks on nights. The patient ratios are 1:3-4. Weekend duty is required, approximately every third weekend. The facility is an acute care teaching hospital with a total of 370 staffed beds. Staff members will work with interdisciplinary teams, including IV teams, physical therapy, and respiratory services. Clinical skills required include BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, and hemodialysis management. Candidates will need to manage various patient conditions, including renal failure and seizure disorders. Familiarity with telemetry and the administration and titration of cardiac and insulin drips is essential. Proper isolation precautions and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) are required. It is important to have experience with documentation in the designated charting system. Staff will collaborate with rapid response teams and provide wound care management. Internally, staff must be prepared to float within similar units as needed. Travel experience is preferred but not mandatory.
