Pipefitter

The Pipefitter is responsible for laying out, assembling, installing and maintaining pipe systems, pipe supports and related equipment to assist welders in preparation of piping and pipeline systems and industrial piping. Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems, pipe supports, and related equipment to assist welders in preparation of piping and pipeline systems and industrial processing piping by performing the following duties. Selects type and size of pipe, and related materials and equipment, such as supports, hangers, and hydraulic cylinders, according to specifications. Inspects work site to determine presence of obstructions and to ascertain those holes cut for pipe will not cause structural weakness. Plans installation or repair to avoid obstructions and to avoid interfering with activities of other workers. Cuts, bevels, threads, and bends pipe using cutting torches, saws, threading machines and pipe cutting machines. Assembles and installs variety of metal and nonmetal pipes, tubes, and fittings, including iron, steel, and copper. Connects pipes, using threaded, caulked, soldered, brazed, fused, or cement joints. Secures pipes to structure with brackets, clamps, and hangers. Observes production machines in assigned area of manufacturing facility to detect machinery malfunctions. Operates machinery to verify repair. Reports and reporting duties as required. Be a Safety Leader! Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Skilled in organization and detail oriented. Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing. Skilled in written, verbal, and interpersonal communication that includes good listening, providing clear direction and effective feedback. Ability to speak, write, read, and interpret the English language.

Requirements Required Qualifications: High school diploma or GED is required. A valid driver's license is required. 5 years' experience Safety Essential/Basic Plus Card. TWIC Card Ability to pass CCI Industrial pre-employment background check, drug/alcohol screening, and physical. Preferred Qualifications: OSHA 10 or 30 training is preferred.
