Patient Care Associate I (PCA) - Surgical Unit

Compensation: $18.75 to $28.13 per hour. (Exact rate is determined on a case-by-case basis commensurate with experience level, as well as education and certifications pertaining to each position which may be above the listed job requirements.)

Team Impact

As a PCA on our Inpatient Surgical Unit, you'll care for adult and pediatric patients recovering from a wide variety of surgical procedures, including orthopedic, urological, thoracic, vascular, gynecological, ENT, and general surgery. Working alongside RNs and an experienced interdisciplinary team, you'll provide compassionate, patient-centered care while supporting patients throughout their recovery and transition home.

How You Will Fulfill Your Potential (Responsibilities)

• Perform all aspects of first-level patient care including promoting hygiene and mobility
• Measure and record patients’ vitals such as temperature and blood pressure
• Responds to patient/family needs and requests
• May assist and support physicians/nurses during routine procedures and treatments
• Report all observations, changes in patient condition to responsible RN for timely, appropriate evaluation and response
• Prepare hospital rooms
• Change patients’ bed sheets, pillows and turning or repositioning patients in their beds
• Deliver meals to patients and assist with feeding
• Help patients dress and/or assist with toileting needs
• Bathe patients
• Listen to patients’ concerns, record them and report them to a nurse
• Patient companion when needed

What You Bring (Qualifications)

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Passion for caring and supporting others
• Patient care experience (preferred, not required)
• Medical terminology knowledge (a helpful plus)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (can be earned after hire)
