We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Manager, Benefits to oversee the day-to-day operations of our U.S. employee benefits programs. This role involves managing a team of professionals, ensuring smooth execution of benefits-related activities, partnering with Human Resources Business Partners (HRBPs) and other HR Centers of Excellence (COE), and driving strategic initiatives to enhance employee satisfaction and organizational effectiveness. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, coupled with deep expertise in employee benefits administration. This role will report to the Director Benefits. When & Where Location: Sleepy Hollow, New York or Rensselaer, New York, United States Work model: Onsite 4 days a week Travel percentage: Travel to other New York offices approximately once a month Discover Your Role The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in administering employee benefit programs, with the ability to understand the end-to-end process. They will have the ability to understand complex benefit issues, how to navigate and bring to resolution. Benefits Administration Oversee day-to-day operations of employee benefits programs (health plans and additional benefits), ensuring timely enrollment, compliance, and accurate processing of transactions; serve as the point of escalation for complex benefits issues and inquiries. Team Leadership Lead, mentor, and manage a team of benefits specialists, providing coaching, training, and professional development opportunities while fostering a positive, inclusive team environment that encourages collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. Compliance and Reporting Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations (ACA, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA), overseeing preparation and submission of required reports to regulatory agencies; stay current on changing laws, advising leadership and updating policies and procedures as needed in partnership with appropriate stakeholders. Vendor Management Manage relationships with benefits vendors and third-party administrators, negotiating contracts, monitoring service levels, and evaluating performance through regular meetings that surface issues and opportunities to improve the employee and administrator experience. Strategic Planning Collaborate with HR leadership to design and implement benefits strategies aligned with organizational goals, analyzing data and trends to identify cost‑saving and program‑enhancement opportunities while championing initiatives that promote employee well‑being and engagement. Communication and Education Develop clear communication materials and organize informational sessions, workshops, and open enrollment events to educate employees on their benefits options and ensure a positive experience; address employee inquiries directly. Cross‑Functional Partnership Collaborate with the Law Department and partner with the HR service center. This Role Requires Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field and a minimum of 10 years of experience in employee benefits management with hands‑on experience, including leading a team Experience administering a self‑insured health plan including plan design and budgeting Strong presentation skills. Putting together clear, professional presentations that can be delivered to employees new in their careers and to seasoned executives Ability to think through complex issues using foundational knowledge of legal requirements and previous experience; and ability to think outside of the obvious Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) or similar credentials preferred Strong knowledge of benefits laws and regulations Exceptional leadership and team management abilities Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem‑solving skills Proficiency in HRIS systems and benefits‑related software and proficiency in Excel and Microsoft suite Does this sound like you?
