Human Resources DirectorThe County of Mono is seeking an experienced and collaborative Human Resources Director to lead a full-service Human Resources Department supporting County operations and employees. Reporting to the County Administrative Officer, the Director provides strategic leadership for all human resources functions, including recruitment and retention, classification and compensation, employee and labor relations, benefits administration, organizational development, policy development, performance management, risk management coordination, and compliance with federal and state employment laws. This executive leadership position serves as a trusted advisor to County leadership, department heads, and elected officials, fostering a workplace culture built on integrity, collaboration, accountability, and exceptional public service while advancing organizational priorities and workforce excellence.The ideal candidate is a strategic and forward-thinking human resources executive with demonstrated success leading HR operations in a complex public or similarly regulated organization. The successful candidate possesses strong expertise in labor relations, collective bargaining, classification and compensation, policy development, and employment law, along with the ability to balance operational needs with long-term workforce strategy. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities might be:Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in human resource management or a related field or a demonstrated equivalent in formal education and experience.Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in a human resources department, preferably in the public sector. Three (3) years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.Demonstrated expertise in communications and interpersonal skills.
