Drafter/3D Modeler/Designer

Knoxville, TN Mesa seeks a talented, detail‑oriented, hardworking Drafter/3D Modeler/Designer to work in Knoxville. The successful candidate will perform 3D and 2D drafting in AutoCAD and Inventor, preparing a wide range of design drawings for medium and high voltage substations—including 3‑D models, general arrangements, equipment plans, elevations, sections, control house layouts, grounding, conduit and cable plans, bills of material, and cable schedules. The role requires strong collaboration with a team, a willingness to learn additional CAD applications, and occasional travel. Responsibilities Create 3D parts and assemblies in Autodesk Inventor. Convert files between Inventor and MicroStation. Occasionally learn and perform drafting functions in other CAD applications. Lead small drafting‑intensive projects as needed. Provide non‑technical drafting support for assigned projects using various CAD tools. Handle basic, routine drafting work with minimal technical resolution. Have work spot‑checked in progress and verified upon completion. Perform back‑checking of own work to minimize rework. Progress from basic drafting to drawing creation and design over time. Assist engineers and designers with administrative functions as required. Engage in an entry‑level drafting effort for 6 months to 1 year, transitioning to a full‑time production substation design role thereafter. Education & Experience Associate’s degree in engineering technology or drafting preferred. Drafting certificates accepted. Two or more years of experience with the listed software may be considered in lieu of a degree or certificate. A minimum of two years of experience is preferred but not required. Preferred Skills Experience in Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks. Familiarity with SDS Smart Tools. Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, Inventor, P4I, Revit, SolidWorks, and Microsoft Office. Behaviors Detail oriented – capable of carrying out tasks with full attention to detail. Self‑starter – motivated to perform without external guidance.
