Ideal candidates will live within reasonable commuting distance or be willing to relocate to the following locations:Lexington, KYLouisville, KYAshland, KYBowling Green, KYDyersburg, TNColumbia, SCCharleston, SCGreeneville, SCChandler, AZWe offer long-term opportunities as well as steady work, benefits and a 401K.Primary RoleThe Journeyman Electrician 1 (J1) works under the guidance of a Foreman or Superintendent and may oversee the direct work of small crew of Helpers, Apprentices, or other J1's. J1's routinely perform installation, alteration and/or repair of electrical systems, conductors and associated materials and equipment. Qualified candidates will also have the opportunity to learn and grown in other divisions of Amteck, like low voltage, controls, process work, and fire alarm along with other skill sets within the electrical trade.ResponsibilitiesWork independently to measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble and install electrical conduit using measuring devices, hand tools, threaders and hand or mechanical bendersInstall and terminate electrical devices, fixtures, panel boards, brand circuit and feeder conductorsDemonstrate a working knowledge of circuitingRead and understand project specifications, blueprints, and schematicsLay out small areas of work from electrical drawings and project documents, including underground layoutCorrectly determine wire, conduit, and junction box sizingPerform basic troubleshooting of lighting and general power circuitsLead and mentor Helpers and Apprentices on the job siteRequirements5-7 years of experience performing electrical construction in commercial and/or industrial environmentsEquipped with all tools required by company policy and able to use them to perform assigned tasksDemonstrate the Amteck Way in daily work activities, behavior and decision makingAble to work project schedules including weekends and overtimeHas an interest and aptitude to learn job-related material through oral instruction and observation, typically in an on-the-job settingDemonstrate a team-player mentality by listening and understanding directions, working cooperatively with others, and working safely without any threat to self or othersPossess basic mechanical aptitude, basic mathematical ability, and the ability to learn to read basic construction documents used dailyThe willingness to participate in field training, whether it by OJT, classroom-based, or completely virtualWhile performing the duties of this job, employee is required to perform the essential functions of the role with or without accommodations. Characteristics are: Focus, Color perception or depth perception. Must be able to see small objects and small print on dials and drawingsEmployee frequently is required to stand, walk, and remain sitting for long periods of time. Employee will frequently use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This includes lifting arm(s) above shoulder level to install equipment.Ability to manipulate materials and/or equipment up to 50 lbs, frequently and at long distances (30+ feet) as needed.Ability to move up or mount by using the hands or feet to include: Ladders - Step stool, 8' to 10' ladder, extension ladder, Stairways - 3 or more flights. This includes working at heights over 30 feet.To stretch out, extend, or put forth a bodily part. To touch or grasp something, by extending or stretching. To touch, lift, hold or operate with the hands up to 50 times daily.To bend forward or down from the middle of the waist or the middle of the back, to bend, downwards, to lower oneself and/or to move freely on hands and knees between 20-50 times daily.Perform skilled work in cramped areas, overhead, at heights, and in a variety of weather conditions.In 1977 Amteck was founded in Central Kentucky with the belief that growth only comes by listening and responding to both clients and employees.
