Maintenance General Supervisor | Job DetailsMaintenance General SupervisorWork Mode: OnsiteLocation: Onsite -Huntsville, AL OpportunityThe General Supervisor – Maintenance & Facilities role provides direct leadership to shift supervisors and facility technicians, integrating equipment maintenance, utilities, and site infrastructure into a cohesive, high-performing operation.This position serves as the maintenance voice in daily operating rhythms, ensuring rapid response to issues, strong cross-functional alignment, and continuous improvement in equipment and facility performance.Key ResponsibilitiesMaintenance & Reliability ExecutionLead execution of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance work orders and responses across all production equipment and plant systemsDrive downtime reduction and OEE improvement through disciplined troubleshooting and root cause problem solvingOwn maintenance response time to breakdowns, ensuring rapid triage, escalation, and resolution to minimize production impactEstablish clear expectations and accountability for response time, repair quality, and follow-up actionsSupport installation, commissioning, and optimization of new equipment as requested.Facilities & Utilities ManagementOversee maintenance response to issues with plant infrastructure, including buildings, grounds, utilities, and critical systems (HVAC, compressed air, water, fire protection, etc.)Ensure reliability of utility systems and facility services required for uninterrupted operationsManage contracted services (janitorial, waste removal, grounds, etc.) and vendor performance as assigned.Daily Operations & Tier Escalation LeadershipServe as the maintenance representative in Tier 2 and Tier 3 meetings, providing clear status on downtime, constraints, and recovery plansOwn escalation of maintenance-related issues, ensuring timely communication, prioritization, and cross-functional alignmentDrive closure of escalated issues with defined actions, owners, and timelinesPeople Leadership & DevelopmentDirectly lead maintenance supervisors and facility technicians, setting clear expectations for safety, quality, responsiveness, and performanceBuild a high-accountability culture focused on urgency, ownership, and teamworkCoach and develop frontline leaders and skilled trades to strengthen bench depth and technical capabilitySupport staffing, scheduling, training, and performance management processesSafety, Compliance & Risk ManagementEnsure compliance with all OSHA, EPA, and company policies related to maintenance and facility operationsMaintain and support programs including fire protection systems, environmental reporting, and permit complianceLead safe work practices, including LOTO, confined space, and contractor safetyProactively identify and mitigate operational and infrastructure risksPlanning, Budget & ControlDrive cost control through effective resource utilization, contractor management, and inventory oversightPartner on shutdown planning and major maintenance events to optimize efficiency and minimize downtimeEnsure accurate maintenance data, asset history, and reporting for decision-makingTrained on all applicable SOPs, LOPs, policies, and procedures.Skills/RequirementsAssociate’s degree in related field. 8+ years of relevant work experience in a manufacturing operation. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location.
