Travel Solar Construction Superintendent

Salary: $90,000 - $115,000 + Travel Per Diem & Benefits

Project Locations: New York, Southern Illinois, and other project sites as needed

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Travel Solar Construction Superintendent to lead the construction of commercial solar energy projects across multiple locations. This role is responsible for managing field operations, coordinating subcontractors, ensuring safety compliance, maintaining project schedules, and delivering high-quality installations.

Projects include solar carports, commercial rooftop systems, and distributed generation ground-mount solar projects . The ideal candidate is a hands-on construction leader with a strong background in solar or commercial construction who thrives in fast-paced environments and is comfortable traveling to active project sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all day-to-day field operations for commercial solar construction projects.
• Supervise and coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and field crews to ensure safe and efficient project execution.
• Drive project schedules and production goals while maintaining quality and budget expectations.
• Review drawings, specifications, and project plans to ensure accurate field installation.
• Conduct site walks, quality inspections, and progress evaluations throughout all phases of construction.
• Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, electrical contractors, and clients to resolve issues and maintain project momentum.
• Identify and proactively mitigate project risks, delays, and constructability concerns.
• Enforce company safety policies and OSHA requirements while promoting a strong safety culture.
• Manage daily reporting, look-ahead schedules, labor tracking, and subcontractor performance.
• Coordinate material deliveries, equipment utilization, and site logistics.
• Ensure all work is completed in compliance with company standards, local codes, and project specifications.
• Support project turnover, punch list completion, and successful project closeout.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a Superintendent, General Superintendent, or Construction Manager on commercial construction projects.
• Proven experience managing solar construction projects, including carport, rooftop, or ground-mount installations.
• Strong knowledge of commercial construction methods, site logistics, and project sequencing.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings, electrical plans, and technical specifications.
• Experience leading multiple subcontractors and maintaining production schedules.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction reporting tools.
• Ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout the project region.

Preferred Qualifications

• Utility-scale or commercial solar experience.
• OSHA 30 Certification.
• First Aid/CPR Certification.
• Electrical construction background or experience coordinating electrical installations.
• Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, or similar construction management software.
• NABCEP certification is a plus.

Work Environment

This is a field-based leadership role requiring travel to active solar construction sites throughout New York, Southern Illinois, and other project locations. Work is performed primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions and requires regular walking, climbing, and oversight of active construction operations. Candidates should be comfortable working extended hours when necessary to meet project milestones and maintain project schedules.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dallas, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $53.00 - $55.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
