Position Type: Student Support Services/School Nurse Date Posted: 7/24/2026 Location: All Campuses Closing Date: until filled Licensed Vocational Nurse Experience: A minimum of two years nursing experience required. Previous experience in school nursing, public health, community nursing or emergency nursing is preferred. Major Responsibilities and Duties: Implements the district school health program with the coordination and clinical support of supervising Registered Nurse (RN). Provides daily direct routine care to students utilizing school health protocols and individual health care plans established by the supervising RN. Administer medication to students according to the board policy and district procedures; maintain accurate log of dispensed medications. Contributes to and implements the individualized student health care plans as established by the supervising RN. Communicates with the supervising nurse, campus principal, counselor, teachers, parents, food service, transportation, and other staff regarding the health needs of the general population and those students with identified health conditions. Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required, including accurate, updated health records on all students. Maintains accurate student health records and immunization records. Documents health concerns and enters all medical information into the computer. Maintains accurate daily clinic logs, medication administration records, and individual student treatment records. Participates in Admission, Review, and Dismissal Committee (ARD) meetings and 504 meetings of students with identifiable health needs if supervisory RN is unavailable. Communicates with parents regarding routine individual students' health care, illness or injury as directed by the supervising RN. Provides guidance to unlicensed assistant personnel (UAP) on routine health related tasks with predictable outcomes as directed by supervisory RN. Checks the Automated External Defibrillator daily for a green light and completes a monthly check and alert supervising RN of status changes. Compiles a list of supplies needed for the clinic and places the order after collaborating with the supervising RN. Educate faculty or staff as needed on health related topics as directed by the supervising RN. Participates on the campus Health and Safety Committees and Crisis Management Team. Complies with the Texas Department of State Health Services regulations, Texas Education Agency rules, and district policy. Comply with confidentiality requirements as set by FERPA, HIPAA, federal, state and local regulations. Comply with federal, state and local laws/regulations governing health. Performs any other duties as assigned by the appropriate supervisor. Demonstrates the ability to attend work on a regular and routine basis to avoid disruption to district operations. Provides optimal customer service to all students, employees, parents, community members and any other stakeholders of the district. Advise campus administration in crisis or emergency situations and participate in assessment and reporting of suspected child abuse.
