Director Of Sec Reporting

A publicly traded, clinical-stage biotechnology company in San Diego is seeking a Director of SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting to join its growing finance organization. This is a highly visible leadership role reporting directly to the CFO and offering ownership of SEC reporting, technical accounting, SOX compliance, and financial reporting processes.

With a strong cash position, an upcoming Phase III clinical trial, and ongoing capital markets activity, the company is entering a transformative stage of growth while investing heavily in systems, automation, and process improvement.

What You'll Do

• Lead preparation and filing of Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, Proxy Statements, and other SEC filings
• Own technical accounting research, documentation, and implementation of new accounting standards
• Oversee SOX compliance and internal controls
• Manage external auditors and coordinate quarterly and annual reporting cycles
• Support capital raise transactions, equity accounting, and other complex financing activities
• Play a key role in the company's transition from QuickBooks to NetSuite
• Drive automation, process improvements, and AI-enabled efficiencies across finance
• Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals

What We're Looking For

• CPA required
• Strong SEC reporting and technical accounting experience
• Public company reporting background
• Experience with U.S. GAAP and SOX compliance
• Ability to operate independently and take full ownership of reporting processes
• NetSuite and/or ActiveDisclosure experience highly preferred
• Open to candidates directly from public accounting or a combination of public accounting and industry experience
