Training and Development Specialist

SUMMARY:

This Training and Development Specialist at Volunteers of America Michigan (VOAMI) will develop and manage the training infrastructure of the organization. This role will promote and manage employee-learning and development programs including systems that enhance compliance, performance and organizational effectiveness. This role will manage staff training and education programs that include training provided directly, through our learning management system or various other media.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Create, execute, and evaluate learning strategies and programs across VOAMI.


• Manage resources necessary to implement training plan to include classroom space, qualified trainers, outside resources, development of curriculums, training manuals, and evaluations tools.

• Manage delivery of the training program consistent with the organization's strategic direction, training calendar, budgeted costs, and programmatic needs.


• Develop training plans and ensure staff are assigned and complete all mandatory compliance requirements.

• Implement various training/learning applications that utilize e-learning, social media, computer conferencing, videos, survey tools, and other venues that maximize learning.

• Manage and maintain the Learning Management System (LMS); enrollments, analyze data, evaluate training effectiveness, and provide reports that allow for tangible monitoring and continuous improvement.


• Assist with structured leadership training program for management staff designed to help develop and enhance their leadership skills and abilities.

• Create training schedules and maintain training records for the agency

• Promote agency training opportunities for employees and provide information on benefits to encourage participation.

• Recommend training materials and methods, assist with ordering and maintaining in-house training equipment and facilities.

• Promote a culture of excellence by promoting the culture of continuous learning and development.


• Perform all other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Ability to initiate and manage projects

• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

• Ability to publicly speak and train

• Availability to work a non-traditional schedule that includes holidays, evenings and weekends upon request.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor's Degree in education, communication, human services, business or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience

• 3-5 years previous experience in related field

• Excellent organizational, communications and administrative skills

• Experience with Relias learning management system preferred

• Computer proficiency with expertise in Microsoft Office Suite

• Must maintain a valid Michigan Driver's License and a driving record that is acceptable to VOAMI's insurer

Environmental Working Requirements:

Work is done in either an on-site or remote office environment with exposure to computer screens.
