Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 2+ years of L&D experience and AWHONN Intermediate/NRP certification.

Details

• Combined unit covering L&D (vaginal & cesarean), post-partum, antepartum, and Level II nursery
• Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• On-call requirement of 48 hours within a 6-week block
• 26-week contract assignment
• Level II inpatient obstetrical and Level II NICU neonatal patient population
• Cares for GYN/medical overflow, antepartum, observational triage, mother-baby couplet care, and border babies
• Performs procedures such as versions, IOL, cervical ripening, IUFD care and bereavement support, and OR cesarean sections
• Staffing ratios vary by acuity: 1:1 for complications or active labor, 1:3 for stable antepartum, 1:1-2 for unstable antepartum, 1:3-4 for couplet care, 2:1 for delivery, and 1:2-3 for Level II NICU
• If floated outside specialty, functions as helping hands using general nursing skills

Requirements

• Active RN license (VA or Compact) required
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, BLS, NRP
• Charting system experience required
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Skilled in Pitocin administration, IV therapy/phlebotomy, IV starting and maintenance, antepartum care, and obstetrical triage
• Experience with C-section recovery and LDRP care preferred
• bCPAP skills preferred

Additional Information

• Provides comprehensive obstetrical nursing care across L&D, post-partum, antepartum, and Level II nursery
• Candidates may submit with a pending license
• No previous permanent employment with this facility within the past 24 months allowed
• Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
• RTO must align with holiday coverage policy: work one holiday if two fall within assignment, or two if three fall within assignment
• Zero-tolerance drug policy for THC; medical marijuana cards not accepted, and drug screening required both during compliance and on day one
• Fit testing required; candidates must shave for fit testing unless an approved medical exemption letter is provided in advance
• General RN orientation occurs every other Monday
• First-time travelers may be considered if they have 2+ years of L&D experience
