Regional Float Oncology Registered Nurse (RN)

Texas Oncology is seeking a Regional Float Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team! In this role, you'll provide essential cross-coverage support in Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, and Infusion nursing units, rotating through select clinics throughout the Dallas Fort Worth West (DFWW) Region. Our Regional Float Pool offers the support of a dedicated team, along with the flexibility of diverse assignments across the Dallas Fort Worth West (DFWW) Region.

Sites Include: Arlington, Azle, Bedford, Corsicana, Cleburn, Granbury, Mansfield, Fort Worth Cancer Center, Irving, Las Colinas, Methodist, Mid-Cities, Rosewood Market, Keller, Grapevine, Midlothian, Weatherford

Schedule: Full-time, MondayFriday, 8:30am-5pm Perks: No weekends, on-call, or major holidays

This position will be either a level I, II or Senior based on candidate work experience.

What does the Travel Float Registered Nurse (RN) do?

The Float Pool RN provides professional nursing care in alignment with national standards, company guidelines, and the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards. You'll serve as a clinical resource and liaison while adapting quickly to diverse assignments.

Responsibilities

• Assessing, planning, coordinating, and evaluating patient care.
• Conducting health assessments, obtaining patient histories, and providing education.
• Offering psychosocial support to patients and families.
• Safely preparing and administering therapies (medications, blood products) in accordance with governing standards.
• Performing venipuncture, accessing ports, and maintaining central lines.
• Monitoring labs, facilitating dose modifications per protocol, and consulting with providers for orders.
• Managing triage calls, symptom management, and medication management with accurate documentation.
• Assisting patients in accessing community resources.
• Opportunity to cross-train and expand into subspecialty areas (Gyn Onc, BMT, Pediatrics) as the Float Pool role evolves.
• Following the Nursing Float Pool Playbook for role- and assignment-specific expectations.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have the following background and experience:

Education/Training

Level I

• Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred.
• RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Minimum level 1-3 years nursing experience
• Flexibility, adaptability, and strong interpersonal skills to thrive in diverse clinical environments.
• Excellent critical thinking and communication abilities.
• Comfort supporting multiple areas of oncology care, with interest in developing skills in subspecialties such as Gyn Onc, BMT, or Pediatrics.
• Must maintain continuing education requirements.
• Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) or prior oncology/infusion/radiation experience preferred.
• Strong IV and central line skills preferred.
• Comfort with EHR systems (OncoEMR, Epic, or similar).
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.

Level II

• In addition to level I:
• Minimum three (3) years of nursing experience, oncology experience strongly preferred

Level Senior

• In addition to levels I and II:
• Minimum five (5) years nursing experience, including at least one year in oncology strongly preferred
