Venipuncture Operations Coordinator - Inpatient - Part Time - Nights

Job Summary This job assumes responsibility for, and leads the daily operations of all Venipuncture personnel and processes within the department. The role schedules, staffs, monitors, and evaluates work activities; maintains good peer relationships and ensures a quality product is delivered. It provides leadership and coordinates resources to achieve quality customer satisfaction and implements required policies and procedures. It supervises initiatives to improve processes, maximize efficiency, and serve internal and external customers. Key Responsibilities Leads the work activities of the phlebotomy group; resolves customer service concerns and implements service‑recovery initiatives. Assists in the orientation and training of new employees; offers ongoing support and instruction to all employees in the venipuncture group; provides feedback on staff performance. Ensures timely response to priority venipuncture requests and adequate staffing coverage; works with the supervisor to control man‑hours and supply costs; communicates effectively with nursing personnel, department directors, employees, and key personnel. Maintains a clean and safe environment; ensures compliance with infection‑control policies, CAP guidelines, and the department safety manual. Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, respecting privacy and communication style. Completes other related duties as required. Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent. 7 years of experience in a healthcare‑related field. Leadership experience preferred. Computer skills for data entry and retrieval of patient information; proficiency with Windows applications and keyboard. Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present information clearly to varying levels of individuals. Excellent decision‑making and delegation skills. Physical and Environmental Demands The position requires medium work with occasional lifting of 20–50 pounds and frequent lifting of 10–25 pounds, with occasional continuous lifting up to 10 pounds. Tasks include walking, standing, stooping, bending, reaching, and manual dexterity. The role involves exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissue, and may involve hazardous materials. Mechanical lifting devices or team lifts should be used. A flexible work schedule, including 24/7, weekend, holiday, and on‑call availability, is required.
