Accountant I (Specialist)

This position is located in the city of Sacramento.

Under the direction of the Senior Accounting Officer (Supervisor) in the Revolving Fund/Employee Services Unit, the Accountant I (Specialist) is responsible for processing payroll warrants, managing payroll accounts receivable, clearing salary advances, and preparing monthly reconciliations and reclassifications. Additional responsibilities include answering the main telephone line, verifying Aware system checks, assisting with CalDOR Payment Card (CPC) billing and Business Enterprise Program (BEP) Monthly Operating Report entries, and performing other technical duties as assigned. The incumbent must follow oral and written instructions; provide excellent customer service; respond effectively to the needs of the public, departmental staff, and external agencies; and work courteously, tactfully, and cooperatively with others. The incumbent is also expected to analyze situations, exercise good judgment, take effective action, work independently, demonstrate initiative, and maintain a neat and professional presence.
