Heavy Equipment & Fleet Mechanic

About the Job

Beck Construction & Excavation is looking for a hands-on mechanic to help keep our fleet and construction equipment running safely, efficiently, and job-ready.

This role works on a variety of equipment including dump trucks, diesel trucks, trailers, heavy equipment, and support equipment. You'll handle both shop and field repairs while helping maintain an organized, reliable, and efficient fleet operation.

This position includes operating a service truck to support field repairs and job site response. Candidates who do not currently hold a CDL must be willing and able to obtain at least a Class B CDL after hire.

What You'll Do:

• Diagnose and repair dump trucks, fleet vehicles, and construction equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled services.
• Troubleshoot hydraulics, air brake systems, electrical systems, and mechanical issues.
• Respond to field breakdowns and job site repair needs.
• Operate a service truck to support crews in the field.
• Keep equipment safe, compliant, and ready for daily operations.
• Assist with tracking repairs, maintenance, and overall fleet condition.
• Support organization of the shop and yard.
• Coordinate with field crews and leadership to keep projects moving efficiently.

What We're Looking For:

• Experience working on diesel trucks, dump trucks, or heavy equipment.
• Ability to diagnose and repair issues independently.
• Knowledge of hydraulics, air brake systems, and electrical troubleshooting.
• Comfortable working both in the field and in the shop.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to work independently.
• Valid driver's license required.
• CDL preferred, or ability and willingness to obtain a Class B CDL after hire.
• Takes pride in quality work, organization, and supporting the team.
