Senior AI Engineer (Agentic AI)

The Opportunity

As a Senior AI Engineer, you'll play a critical role in designing, building, and scaling production AI systems that directly impact customers. You'll work across the full lifecycle of development, from early architecture and experimentation through deployment, evaluation, and continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate combines strong software engineering fundamentals with hands-on experience building and shipping AI-powered products. Success in this role requires technical depth, ownership, curiosity, and a passion for solving customer problems through practical applications of AI.

What You Will Do

• Design and build production-grade agentic AI applications and workflows
• Develop systems that leverage large language models to automate complex user tasks
• Partner closely with product and engineering teams to bring new AI capabilities to market
• Establish evaluation frameworks to measure quality, reliability, and business impact
• Improve agent performance through experimentation, iteration, and production feedback
• Contribute to shared AI infrastructure and architectural standards across the organization
• Take ownership of projects from concept through launch and ongoing optimization

What We are Looking For

• Experience building and shipping AI-powered products in production environments
• Strong software engineering foundation with experience developing scalable applications
• Proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript
• Experience working with LLMs, agent frameworks, orchestration tooling, or retrieval systems
• Ability to evaluate, debug, and improve AI system performance at scale
• Demonstrated ownership of technical decisions and end-to-end delivery
• Strong communication and collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building agentic AI systems
• Experience with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG)
• Familiarity with tools such as LangGraph, LangChain, Bedrock, OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar platforms
• Startup or high-growth company experience
• Customer-facing product development experience

Leveling

Candidates may be considered for either Senior AI Engineer or Senior AI Engineer II depending on experience, technical depth, and demonstrated scope of ownership.

Location

Hybrid in the San Francisco Bay Area with a minimum of three days per week onsite.

Compensation

Base salary ranges from $166,700–$259,800 , plus equity. Placement within the range will be determined based on experience, skills, and level.
