Position
Sacramento Area Sewer District (SacSewer) is currently accepting applications for an Internal Auditor position. Applications will be screened after the following filing deadlines at 5PM: 6/23/26, 7/9/26 (final) Incumbents in this single-position classification are required to exercise initiative and considerable independent judgment within the framework of general policies established by SacSewer. This classification is responsible for preparing financial, auditing, and accounting records while performing highly specialized financial and accounting functions and maintaining all financial reports. Incumbents develop district-wide work plans, document audit procedures and results, execute routine audit procedures, analyze evidence, perform analysis, and presents findings.
Incumbents in this classification report to the Director of Finance or the District Engineer. This classification is distinguished from the Director of Finance in that the latter has overall responsibility for management and oversight of department-wide activities. This classification is further distinguished from the Business Analyst series in that the latter analyzes business processes, systems and data to identify needs and support the implementation of operations. The Internal Auditor provides services designed to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of governance, risk management, internal controls and compliance.
Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor's degree, or higher, from an accredited college or university in accounting or other closely related field.
AND Five (5) years of experience in auditing in a public or private industry, including two (2) years of supervisory experience.
