DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Greet participants and visitors, answer multiple telephone lines, check in participants, prepare participant charts, and coordinate daily assignments with the charge nurse or designated clinical lead.
• Perform phlebotomy, electrocardiograms, point-of-care testing, and other assigned clinic procedures safely, accurately, and in accordance with established protocols and scope of practice.
• Obtain height, weight, vital signs, specimen collections, intake and output measurements, and other assigned clinical measurements or participant care tasks.
• Coordinate, register, and schedule appointments; enter, update, and maintain accurate census, appointment, and participant records.
• Retrieve, copy, file, organize, and maintain charts and records accurately, confidentially, and in accordance with departmental procedures.
• Prepare, label, process, document, and track laboratory specimens, and arrange timely pick-up, delivery, or transfer in accordance with study protocol and laboratory requirements.
• Clean, disinfect, organize, and prepare office, laboratory, and clinic areas to maintain a safe, orderly, compliant, and participant-ready environment.
• Assist physicians, nurses, investigators, and research staff with protocol-specific procedures, examinations, and participant care activities as directed.
• Clean and disinfect equipment, perform assigned quality control checks, and maintain accurate logs for centrifuges, freezers, refrigerators, and other clinic or laboratory equipment.
• Order, monitor, maintain, and restock office, clinic, and laboratory supplies to ensure adequate inventory and continuity of daily operations.
• Support the supervisor and manager with special projects, operational priorities, departmental needs, and other assigned responsibilities.
• Perform other related duties as assigned to support the effective operation of the department.

EDUCATION

• GED or high school diploma.
• Medical Assistant Certification
• Medical Assistant Certification and Basic Life Support (CPR) Certification

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bilingual: English/Spanish
• Entry level medical assistant with up to one year of experience preferred.
• Knowledge of general front-office and back-office clinical support functions.
• Ability to perform phlebotomy, obtain vital signs, ECGs, collect and process specimens, and assist with clinical set-up and procedures in accordance with established protocols.
• Knowledge of appropriate cleaning, disinfection, and infection-control practices for examination rooms, clinic areas, laboratory areas, and equipment.
