Internist Position at NeighborHealthAn Internist provides primary care medical services to the adult patients of the Health Center in accordance with the usual and customary appointment schedule. Will examine, diagnose and treat patients. Will perform physical examinations and order appropriate laboratory testing. Prescribe medication as needed and treat and follow patients' courses of illness. Will treat wounds, lacerations and minor trauma. Will diagnose and treat internal medical problems. Will engage in preventative medicine techniques such as vaccinations, annual examinations and cancer screening. Will teach patients about the importance of healthy diets, liquor control, smoking cessation and primary and secondary prevention of coronary artery disease and strokes. Will provide personal and family counseling on personal and social illnesses such as alcohol and drug abuse, sexually transmitted diseases, HIV and AIDS.
