OR Position

Unit Notes Candidates MUST be aware of the rural environment of the hospital. Unit: OR - # suites: 2 OR suites and 1 Endo suite - # of cases per day: 1-6 OR cases per day & 12 colonoscopies per day 3 days per week, we also do pain cases 2-3 days per week in the endo suite. Common types of cases: General surgery, ortho, gyn, endo, pain management. Certs/Tech certified: ACLS and BLS required if nurse is working PACU and OR, only BLS is required and ACLS preferred for strictly OR, BLS only required for surgical techs, surgical techs must also be certified. Ratios: 1 to 1, 1 to 2 for recovery. EMR: Meditech. Charge Nurse: Yes, they do take assignment. OR techs: Yes. Shift: Shifts are 8 hour shifts with staggered start times. Some will start earlier and some will start a bit later. Weeknight call - call team consists of RN & OR tech - no set requirement for call. It is divided up between staff. RNs typically take 6-8 shifts of call per month. Weekday call is anything after 315p or at end of the surgery day. (Min 96Hrs per month). Weekend call - call required only - 24Hr call - Friday and Saturday rotation. What is call response time: 45 min. Holidays: 24 hour call required for holidays, it is divided up between staff. Scrub Color/ Provided: yes. Tele: Client. Surgeon on call hours: surgeon on call 24/7, this includes general and ortho surgeons. IV Team: No. RT 24/7: Yes. Pharmacy 24/7: No, hours are 6am-5:30pm, Omnicell for after hours, pharmacist will also mix meds ahead of time if needed, they can also provide support over phone at night if needed. Shifts: Shifts are 8 hour shifts with staggered start times, some will start earlier and some will start a bit later. Floating: May have to float to recovery. They have dedicated pre-op nurses, some are cross-trained to do endo. Floor specific orientation: 3 shifts. Scrubbing required. RN's: Preferred. Additional notes: Endo experience is preferred, it is also preferred that the nurses have experience with recovery and/or pre-op, if they do not have experience with recovery they will teach them or they will not have to work that area, candidates must be aware of rural environment of hospital.
