SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER, PE PUBLIC WORKS

Description Build the infrastructure communities depend on — with a team that's actually going somewhere. Sustainability Engineering Group (SEG) is growing, and we're looking for a Senior Project Manager who wants more than another job pushing plans through review — you want to shape the roads, water systems, and public spaces that communities rely on every day. You'll take ownership of complex public works projects from concept to completion, working directly with municipal and agency clients who value sustainability‑minded design as much as technical precision. At SEG, you won't be a cog in a big‑firm machine. You'll have real visibility, real input on how projects get run, and a direct line to leadership. If you're the kind of engineer who wants to solve problems, mentor the next generation of talent, and see your work reflected in the streets, water systems, and public infrastructure across Arizona, this is your seat. What You'll Do Own the planning, design, and execution of public works projects — roadway, water/wastewater, drainage, and public infrastructure design — from kickoff to closeout. Manage project budgets, schedules, and contracts to keep delivery on time and on target, including compliance with public bidding and procurement requirements. Be the client's go‑to person — building trust with municipal and agency stakeholders, offering strategic guidance, and turning one project into a long‑term relationship. Mentor and grow a team of engineers, creating a culture of collaboration and technical excellence. Ensure projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations, public agency standards, and environmental requirements. Use Civil 3D, GIS, and other modern tools to drive design quality and clean documentation. Help bring in the next big project — contributing to proposals, qualifications packages, client presentations, and business development alongside our leadership team. Why SEG We're an engineering firm that believes sustainable, smart infrastructure isn't a checkbox — it's the whole point. We're small enough that your work matters and visible, and ambitious enough that there's real room to grow. If you've been ready to make the jump into a senior‑level role but haven't had the chance, this is where that happens. This role is hybrid, based out of our Phoenix office, with in‑office collaboration built into the week and flexibility where it counts. Requirements What You Bring Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program (Master's or MBA a plus, not required). Professional Engineering (PE) license required. 8+ years of progressive civil engineering experience, with a strong focus on public works or municipal infrastructure projects. A track record of leading engineering teams and delivering complex public agency projects successfully. Deep technical fluency in civil design principles, construction methods, and public agency regulatory requirements. Client‑first instincts — the ability to listen, navigate public stakeholder needs, and keep relationships strong. Comfort contributing to business development: proposals, qualifications packages, presentations, and winning work. Nice to Have A natural communicator who can make technical ideas land with public agency clients and stakeholders alike. A leader people want to work for — someone who develops talent, not just manages it. Sharp analytical instincts and good judgment when projects get complicated. Familiarity with local municipal, county, and state public works standards and processes (e.g., Maricopa County, ADOT, or comparable agencies). #J-18808-Ljbffr Sustainability Engineering Group, LLC
