Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Emergency Department Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum three (3) years of relevant nursing experience License: RN License in good standing Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS Must-Have: EPIC experience required; Trauma level 2 or higher preferred Description: The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who takes responsibility for a group of patients during a designated time frame. The RN provides care utilizing the nursing process, trends, technology, and resources within the institution's philosophy. The RN performs all responsibilities and duties assigned as specific to the scope of service. The RN implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. The RN maintains accurate documentation of nursing care provided to support integration of information for the healthcare team. The RN completes an initial assessment upon patient admission and develops an appropriate plan of care based on patient and family needs. The RN implements the plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. The RN modifies the plan of care based on continuous evaluation. The RN takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents. The RN communicates directly and privately when necessary to resolve issues. The RN offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers and confers with colleagues to expand their knowledge base. The RN identifies their own learning needs and takes the initiative to pursue appropriate solutions. The RN fulfills all requirements of departmental competencies. The RN implements procedures and theories specific to emergency department nursing. The RN performs patient assessments and develops care plans in collaboration with providers, family, and patients. The RN executes the plan of care and nursing interventions. The RN modifies the care plan based on continuous assessment. The RN is responsible for patient and staff safety through appropriate nursing interventions, adherence to safety standards, and reporting safety hazards. The RN effectively communicates and collaborates with staff, visitors, and families to promote a healthy and healing work environment. The RN maintains accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation.
