School Nurse (RN)

Job Description

The Stepping Stones Group is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for a contracted, school-based placement in Lakewood, WA for the 26/27 school year ! This is a full-time position supporting a local K-12 district with private duty/1:1 nursing services.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Active RN license valid in Washington
• Graduate of an accredited ADN or BSN program
• Current BLS CPR/AED certification
• ESA Certification
• Demonstrated competency in the specific skills required for the assigned student including:
  • Trach/vent management
  • Seizure management - competent with seizure action plans and rescue medications
  • G-Tube management
  • Pediatric diabetic care
  • Oxygen and airway management
  • Diapering
  • Transfers and positioning
  • Cortical visual impairment knowledge
• Ability to work independently in a non-clinical environment
• Preferred: pediatric experience, school based experience

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to respond effectively in emergency situations
• Ability to work collaboratively with school staff, families, therapists, and healthcare providers
• Ability to maintain accurate and timely documentation
• Prior school-based experience highly preferred

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Maintain continuous observation of assigned student throughout the school day
• Implement and monitor student health plans
• Accompany student during transportation and community-based activities when assigned
• Communicate significant status changes to family, school staff, and clinical leadership
• Provide first aid, daily medical care, and emergency support
• Maintain student confidentiality in accordance with FERPA and HIPAA requirements
