Senior Design Researcher / Senior User Experience Researcher

We are looking for a Senior Design Researcher / Senior User Experience Researcher who will lead the development and execution of user-centered research programs. You will mentor junior team members, oversee and conduct user testing, and help ensure design decisions are based on user-centered design principles. You should be skilled in collaborating with cross-functional teams to advocate for user needs, ultimately enhancing the overall user experience with a vast variety of products.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Proposals Leads/manages major proposals or major sections of large proposals, including proposals that contain sections outside the specialized technical discipline. Business Development Maintains ongoing business development efforts and leads in identifying, cultivating, and capturing business opportunities through new and existing client relationships. Leads development and execution of capabilities presentations for their practice area. Responsible for including other practice areas as needed for capabilities presentations. Project Management Lead, plan, and conduct major technical projects or major phases of significant technical projects, coordinating the efforts of multi-disciplinary technical staff in the performance of client projects within time and budget constraints. Technical Competency Develops research plans and discussion guides while incorporating internal and external stakeholder feedback. Analyzes research results, compiles data, and converts findings into actionable insights. Presents research results to clients. Manages recruiters and communication with the client regarding project progress, scope, and status. Excellent technical writing skills. Seeks opportunities to visually communicate data and executes visualization or recruits help in doing so. Clearly represents PD’s technical competency regarding research. Ultimately responsible for the quality of work and deliverables produced for user research projects. Autonomy Responsible for making project decisions in the best interest of the client and PD regarding project scope, team needs, and expenses with minimal input required from other staff. Leadership Provides strong mentoring, technical guidance, and oversight to all other research staff. Helps regulate the workload of others with a focus on staff development opportunities for all team members. Bachelor’s degree in user-centered research program such as Design Research, Human-Computer Interaction, Human-Factors Psychology, Behavioral Science, Cognitive Science or similar field. Master’s degree or higher education is a plus. 7+ years of relevant work experience. Experience leading the execution of user research programs. Ability to travel to client sites or other locations as required for project work. Ability to sit/stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift a minimum of 15 pounds.
