Fiber SplicerFederal Way, WashingtonThe Fiber Splicer is responsible for performing fiber optic cable preparation, splicing, termination, testing, troubleshooting, and restoration activities in support of outside plant telecommunications construction. This position ensures fiber installations meet engineering specifications, customer requirements, company standards, and applicable safety and quality requirements.The Fiber Splicer works independently or as part of a fiber construction team and is responsible for completing assigned work efficiently while maintaining a high standard of workmanship, documentation, and jobsite safety.You will have the opportunity to:Splice and test fiber optic cables in all outside plant applications – Mainly buried/underground, potentially aerial, on both newly placed and existing cablesAnalyze test results, troubleshoot and work as a team to fix bad splicesInterpret and understand placing and splicing work plansRead and interpret work plans or job specifications to execute all work assigned safely and in accordance with the Company's Health and Safety policyWork outdoors in various conditions to place copper or fiber optic telecommunication cablesVerify existing infrastructure by accessing applicable furniture and documenting resultsAble to climb ladders and a variety of construction equipment to assist in the installation of telecommunication cables and apparatusesClean and maintain tools and equipmentAccurately record and report project progress to the appropriate supervisory person and communicate any issues or expected delaysOther duties as requiredThis role is for you if you have the following skills and qualities:High school diploma or relevant work experience1-3 years of Fiber Splicing experienceCoax/Coax Activation experience is an assetPower Supply Activation / ROLT experience is an assetAble to complete the necessary training for First Aid, Confined Spaces and Working at HeightsAbility to lift up to 80 lbs.Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditionsAbility to interpret placing and splicing plansCompetency in OTDR / Power Meters / VFL and other testing protocolsGood communication skills with the ability to work independently or in a teamMust be able to speak, read and write EnglishDemonstrated commitment to health and safety and willing to receive applicable Health and Safety training as per legislative and job requirementsHolds driver's license and able to drive DOT vehiclesMust be able to provide a clear criminal record check and a clean driver's abstractIs this you?
