Understands the Mission, Vision and Values of Masonicare.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:1. Provides assistance with essential activities of daily living and personal care to residents based on age, needs and abilities of the resident:bathingdressing and undressingambulatingtoiletingassistance with meals and nourishmentspersonal hygiene (shaving, dental hygiene, nail, hair and foot care)transferring using proper body mechanics and appropriate assistive devicescare of ADL devices such as eyeglasses and hearing aids2. Provides assistance with instrumental activities of daily living to residents based on age, needs and abilities of the resident:placing and/or receiving telephone callsperforming light housekeeping tasks such as vacuuming, emptying trash, cleaning bathroom, bed making and bed changesassisting with laundryescorting the resident and coordinating internal transportation needsassisting with mail delivery and correspondence3. Medication Assistance:assists the resident with self-administration of medications, through cueing only4. Health Maintenance and Monitoring Tasks:observes and reports changes in the residents' physical condition and cognitive/emotional status to ALSA Licensed Nurses as neededconducts room checks on resident roundsmonitors for environmental safety hazardsrecords incidents, errors or accidentsrecords resident and resident related events5. Dining:assists in a variety of tasks related to dining (escorting residents, set-up and clean-up, serving meals)6. Activity Program:responsible for participating in and supporting the resident centered activity program7. Emergency Preparedness:responds to and acts appropriately in emergency or disaster situations8. Performs other duties as required.Leadership:is a resident advocate at all timesfollows Masonicare policy concerning confidentialityplans and completes duties with minimal direction from supervisorworks collaboratively with colleaguesuses tactful, diplomatic communication in potentially sensitive or emotionally charged situationsfollows up with appropriate staff, resident or others regarding reported complaints, problems and concernsacts as ambassador to guest and other off-campus visitorsmaintains certifications required for employmentAdministrative:completes required written documentation concerning resident care and activities during shiftOther Duties:demonstrates an appreciation of the heritage, values and wisdom of the residents and an understanding of the aging processattends and participates in staff, educational and committee meetings to update knowledge, techniques, guidelines and regulationsassists with quality assurance programsassists with orientation and training of new staffMinimum Qualifications:Education: Post High School Vocational / Specialized TrainingExperience: 1 year of CNA experience preferredCertificates, Licenses, Registrations:Current State of Connecticut CNA certificate; CPR Certification preferred. Valid CT Driver's LicenseKey Competencies: Read, write and speak English.
