Position Overview:

At Lucid, charging is not just a feature - it is a defining product attribute that blends high-voltage technology, system architecture, and customer experience into a seamless, industry-leading vehicle capability.

We are currently seeking Senior Systems Engineer, Charging Systems , to be part of a passionate, highly driven multi-disciplinary engineering team developing next-generation high-voltage(HV) systems and architectures. The successful candidate will exhibit a clear understanding of electric vehicle charging system and development thereof. The candidate will be responsible for definition of Model Based Systems Engineering deliverables of one or more charging features of Lucid products. This role will contribute to world-class charging attributes (e.g., fast charge rates, efficiency, battery health optimization) that directly impact range, cost, and customer experience.

The role will require cross-functional engagement with product management, vehicle engineering teams, software engineers, hardware engineers and verification and validation teams. A thorough understanding of system development lifecycle(s) is required to be successful in this role, gained through prior OEM or Tier 1 industry experience.

What you will do:

• Lead the end-to-end capture and definition of requirements for advancing leading class vehicle charging features, collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to shape cutting-edge EV experiences.
• Shape charging system architectures using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), driving functional decomposition, signal definition, and cross-domain integration across vehicle systems.
• Translate high-level feature concepts into robust, implementable subsystem and component-level requirements that enable precise vehicle functionality
• Partner with Functional Safety Engineers to develop safety concepts, taking ownership of Technical Safety Concepts using proven methodologies such as FMEA and FTA
• Drive alignment with verification & validation teams to define comprehensive test strategies and ensure successful execution against requirements
• Collaborate closely with HV domain and software engineering teams to define, refine, and manage performance requirements for high-voltage system controls
• Contribute to the development and execution of product-level validation plans, ensuring features meet performance, safety, and customer expectations
• Investigate and resolve real-world vehicle charging issues through data-driven analysis, continuously enhancing system performance and user experience
• Coordinate systems engineering lifecycle activities with program management to successfully deliver milestones and product releases on schedule
• Champion continuous improvement of systems engineering practices, driving innovation and excellence across the organization

What you bring:

• 4+ years of experience delivering systems engineering solutions for automotive controls products in a production environment
• 4+ years of hands-on application of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to drive design, analysis, and development workflows
• Deep working knowledge of vehicle charging standards, including SAE J1772/J3400 and ISO 15118
• Experience with Automotive embedded electronic product development
• Solid experience applying ISO 26262 to drive system requirements, architecture, and safety-driven design decisions
• Demonstrated ability to manage and deliver across multiple vehicle programs simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
• Strong data-driven problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze and debug complex vehicle issues
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
• Highly detail-oriented with a disciplined approach to documentation, traceability, and reporting
• Self-driven with a strong sense of ownership, a proactive mindset, and a collaborative approach to problem solving

Ways to Standout:

• Hands-on expertise with Cameo/Magic Cyber Systems Engineer and strong proficiency in SysML-based modeling
• Proven experience applying FMEA and structured risk management methodologies in complex engineering environments
• Solid understanding of electrical, electronic, and programmable systems, with the ability to connect system behavior to component-level design
• Familiarity with AUTOSAR architecture and its application in modern automotive software platforms
• INCOSE Systems Engineering certification (ASEP or CSEP), demonstrating a strong foundation in industry best practices

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, mechanical engineering or another related technical discipline is required.
• Master’s degree or higher education is preferred.

Salary Range : The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.

Base Pay Range (Annual)

$158,400—$217,800 USD

Compensation & Benefits: Lucid offers a comprehensive and competitive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance; life and disability coverage; paid time off; paid holidays, paid sick leave; and a 401(k) retirement plan. Hourly/non-exempt employees accrue up to 120 hours paid time off, and salaried/exempt employee accrue up to 160 hours paid time off. Eligible employees may also participate in Lucid’s equity program and/or a discretionary annual cash incentive program. Incentive and equity awards, if applicable, are determined based on individual performance, role scope, market considerations, and overall company results, in accordance with the terms of the applicable plans.
