Lab Support Tech- Team Lead Nights

Qualifications High School Diploma or GED (Required) Vocational/Technical Degree (Preferred) Work Experience 2–3 years as a Phlebotomist (Required) Licenses and Certifications Nationally recognized phlebotomy certification such as ASCP or AMT Certified Breath Alcohol Collector Certified Drug Screen Collector Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) (Preferred) Certified Drug Screen Collection Trainer (must be obtained within 6 months of hire date) (Preferred) Essential Functions Team Leader Job Duties Provide assistance to laboratory staff. Supervise lab support staff. Ensure schedules are posted and shifts are covered. Assist in specimen collection for lab procedures to obtain timely results. Ensure competency checks are performed in an acceptable time frame. Ensure evaluations of lab support staff are completed within an acceptable time frame. Administrative Job Duties Provide overall assistance to the laboratory department. Maintain and order office supplies and equipment; keep an adequate log of information. Answer telephone, screen calls, take messages, and provide information according to established policies. Maintain databases as directed. Documentation Document and submit required information and data in a timely fashion. Clearly and accurately document designated processes, policies, products, and service offerings. Ensure documentation is tailored to expected readers/users. Use correct terminology and conform to required style and format. Technology and Equipment Use Demonstrate technical skill in using equipment appropriate for the role. Understand equipment operation and maintain equipment in working order. Troubleshoot equipment problems. Use technology to increase productivity and adapt to new technology. Drug Screen and Breath Alcohol Collection/Supervision Collect chain‑of‑custody specimens for drug analysis and other protocols. Perform breath alcohol collections. Oversee training of new employees in these collections. Follow protocols for federal, forensic, and observed drug screens. Fax chain‑of‑custody to Medical Review Officer. Package specimens for shipment, complete paperwork, and take them to the shipping area promptly. Enter correct charges into the computer for the appropriate company. Use correct Chain‑of‑Custody form and identify donors accurately. Document all entries on the Chain‑of‑Custody form correctly. Deliver results to the proper company or individual in a prompt, confidential manner. Train employees and perform re‑training as needed. Additional Duties Adhere to hospital and departmental attendance and punctuality guidelines. Perform all job responsibilities in alignment with the core values, mission, and vision of the organization. Perform other duties as required and complete all job functions as per departmental policies and procedures. Maintain current knowledge in present areas of responsibility through self‑education and ongoing educational programs. Attend staff meetings and complete mandatory in‑services and competency evaluations on time. Demonstrate competency at all levels in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs.
