Relocation Authorized: National/International - Single Telework Type: Full-Time Office/Project Work Location: Thacker Pass, NV Salary Range: $105,000 - $160,200 annually Project Overview Thacker Pass is the largest known lithium resource in the United States. The project, located in the high desert of north-central Nevada, will produce more lithium carbonate than any other U.S. facility, enough to power 1 million electric vehicles per year. As the EPCM contractor for Lithium Americas, Bechtel manages the integration of a multidisciplinary engineering team and procurement of ~\$1 B in goods and services. Earth work began in 2023 and design and procurement of long‑lead equipment is underway. Job Summary Integrate ES&H issues and requirements into planning documents, government documents, design specifications, construction plans, schedules, and subcontract packages. Provide technical responsibility for interpreting complex requirements, evaluating and applying ES&H engineering principles, and formulating scopes of work, plans, and methodologies to achieve compliance. Provide technical assistance to other ES&H professionals and other project functions. Ensure compliance with project safety rules and lead emergency response planning and execution. Major Responsibilities Advise and assist contractors on critical activities and safety inspections, identifying and evaluating risk situations. Participate early in critical activities requiring personnel with hazardous work experience. Coordinate, execute, and evaluate emergency drill exercises for all emergency types to train personnel. Generate drill reports and inform Bechtel of findings. Review and evaluate project safety requirements to ensure adequate emergency response (communications, traffic plan, route map, meeting points, evacuation routes). Interact with emergency coordinators of project contractors to align ERE teams and brigade functions. Support inter‑company organization to formalize communications between ERE teams and project brigades. Education and Experience Requirements Certified in Emergency Response. 5+ years of verifiable experience as a volunteer firefighter or in rescue brigades, emergency control, and coordination. Required Knowledge and Skills Rescue recovery systems, resuscitation techniques, ABC of trauma. Primary stabilization techniques. Knot resistance types, anchor knot types. Pulley work systems. NFPA 1006 Standard on Rescue Technician Professional Qualifications or equivalent. NFPA 1670 Standard on Operations and Training for Technical Search and Rescue Incidents or equivalent. NFPA 1983 Standard on Life Safety Rope and Equipment for Emergency Services or equivalent. Confined space rescue techniques and specific rescue plans. General rescue plans. High altitude and physical rescue techniques. Tunnel interior rescue techniques. Confined space interior rescue techniques. Climatic emergency and natural disaster response. Vehicle rescue techniques.
