Production Manager - Metal Packaging Manufacturing

George Thomas has partnered with a global player in the industrial packaging segment, with multiple manufacturing facilities across North America.

They are looking to onboard a Production Manager for their 2nd largest facility in North America specializing in metal can manufacturing.

\n

\n

Location: Cook County, IL (Onsite)

\n

Relocation Assistance can be provided.

\n

\n

You will be dedicated to creating high-performance teams and enhancing plant operations utilizing lean methodologies.

\n

\n

How Will You Add Value to the Team:

\n

\n
• Oversee daily production supervisory teams up to 55 people.
\n
• Achieve or exceed production goals for safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
\n
• Maintain compliance with safety protocols and OSHA standards.
\n
• Implement lean manufacturing and Six Sigma to promote efficiency and reduce waste.
\n
• Collaborate with engineering and materials teams to introduce new products and technologies.
\n
• Lead planning and investments for capacity and infrastructure enhancements.
\n
• Recruit, train, and mentor staff, fostering a collaborative and engaged culture.
\n
• Ensure effective staffing, development, and succession planning.
\n
• Promote accountability and recognition throughout all levels.
\n
• Manage a plant budget and analyze costs for labor, materials, and overhead to enhance financial performance.
\n

\n

To be Successful in this Role You Will Require:

\n

\n
• Bachelors Degree in Engineering or equivalent.
\n
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in operations positions including managing people.
\n
• Packaging or metal can manufacturing experience preferred. Candidates with high volume manufacturing experience will also be considered.
\n
• Strong understanding of mechanical equipment.
\n
• Proficient in MS Office, SAP
